A man who forced a JetBlue flight to be diverted to Buffalo Niagara International Airport earlier this year pleaded guilty Friday to entering an aircraft in violation of security requirements.

Elvir Ardolic, 35, of New York City, was a passenger on a June 23 flight originating at JFK Airport in New York and destined for Chicago, and, according to prosecutors, consumed an excessive amount of alcohol before boarding the flight.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango said Ardolic became disruptive enough that the plane had to be diverted to Buffalo. The plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder is the result of an investigation by the FBI and Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Police.
