A family of six lost everything this morning in a fire that destroyed their Town of Lockport home.
No one was home at 10 a.m. when the blaze broke out, Niagara County sheriff’s deputies said.
Firefighters were called to extinguish the blaze at 161 Mallard Drive by a neighbor, who reported that the manufactured trailer home was engulfed by flames.
The Rapids Volunteer Fire Co. responded, and were assisted by the South Lockport, Terry’s Corners, Wolcottsville and Clarence Center fire companies.
The trailer and its contents were listed as a total loss.
The American Red Cross assisted the family – a father, mother and four school-aged children – with temporary housing and clothing. Donations to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund can be made to 1-800-REDCROSS or by visiting www.redcross.org.
