LOCKPORT – Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas increased bail to $50,000 for a Lockport man accused of repeatedly having sex with a girl under age 13 between July and October of this year.

Michael D. Johnson, 27, who faces a 15-count indictment that could earn him a sentence of life in prison if he is convicted, was allowed to remain free on a $10,000 bail bond after his arraignment Nov. 19.

He had been ordered by Farkas to move because he lives too close to the girl. However, Johnson was arrested the next day and charged with violating an order of protection granted to the alleged victim.

Bail was set at $20,000 on that when Johnson was arraigned in City Court, and Wednesday, Farkas boosted it to $50,000.
