The 30th annual New York State Silver Gloves boxing tournament takes place at the Wilson Foundation High School in Rochester on Saturday at 1:30 p.m and Sunday at 10 a.m.

Junior boxers from all over New York State will compete for state honors and to keep on track towards the National Championships in Independence, Mo., in February. Winners of the New York tournament will have to first get through the regionals in January in Oneonta.

Local teams are host Rochester, St. Martin/U-Prep, Baden Street, Roc, Future and Right Move. St. Martin’s Paris Davis returns after finishing second in the 2012 National Silver Gloves. He and St. Martin’s Niasheen Williams recently were runners-up of the National Police Athletic League Championship in Toledo, Ohio.

The event is co-sponsored with the Southwest Neighborhood Association (SWAN). Admission is $10. Call Don at 752-2621.
