FORESTVILLE – Water problems over the Thanksgiving holiday had several Forestville residents asking questions about the village’s notification system.
At the regular meeting of the Village Board on Tuesday, Mayor Beth Bowker addressed concerns from residents who wondered why a computerized telephone calling system had not been implemented to notify residents when the village’s water was not safe to drink.
Forestville residents were asked to boil drinking water from Tuesday through Thursday last week due to a high bacteria count. The mayor said county Health Department officials were confident that the issue would be resolved quickly and decided not to implement the warning by telephone.
The mayor said she put up handwritten notices in area businesses and notified the media. Most residents said they learned of the problem through the media.
In other matters, the youth recreation program will sponsor a ski program on Sunday afternoons at Kissing Bridge. Information will be given to students at Forestville High School. Transportation to the ski center will be provided.
A Christmas program featuring Santa Claus and horse and wagon rides will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at the fire hall.
