Goodyear Dunlop Tires North America is preparing to shift some jobs from its Town of Tonawanda site to Ohio and eliminate several other positions, a company spokesman said.

Under the changes, 10 or 11 people in sales and marketing positions from Goodyear Dunlop will transfer to Goodyear’s Akron, Ohio, headquarters, said Chris Curran, a Goodyear spokesman. “We’re hoping to have everyone move down by the end of the year.”

In addition, a “handful” of employees, perhaps six or so, will be laid off at the Tonawanda site, he said.

The jobs involve the motorcycle tire business based at the Sheridan Drive location and are unrelated to tire manufacturing operations there, Curran said. “We’re trying to run the business a little more efficiently.”

The Tonawanda complex has about 1,200 employees. It manufactures tires for cars, commercial trucks and motorcycles.
