Illustrated Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor calendars for 2013 will be available for free distribution to the public beginning Saturday at libraries and visitor centers throughout the 524-mile canalway corridor across upstate New York.
Each month features one of 12 winning images from this year’s Erie Canalway photo contest. The calendar captures the beauty, history and character of New York’s canals and canal communities.
There will be 15,000 calendars available on a first-come, first-served basis. The calendars are sponsored by the state Canal Corp. and Erie Canalway Heritage Fund.
The National Heritage Corridor Commission collaborates with government agencies, communities and organizations to preserve and share canal heritage and promote the corridor as a world-class tourism destination.
In Western New York, calendars will be available at libraries and visitor centers in Albion, Buffalo, Holley, Lockport, Medina, North Tonawanda and Tonawanda.
