A Delavan man remained in Erie County Medical Center late Monday for treatment of injuries he suffered when his Dodge Neon crashed into a parked pickup truck in South Wales Monday afternoon.

Richard A. Babcock, 52, was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC about 2:15 p.m., after he struck a pickup parked along the southbound lane of Route 16 , according to state police.

The pickup owner, Robert B. Burgstahler, 33, a Cheektowaga, was hunting nearby. The force of the crash between Babcock’s sedan and his pickup truck threw him several feet, though he was uninjured, troopers said. The pickup burst into flames after it was struck.

Babcock was ticketed for unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle.
