An extra man on offense proved to be the correct formula to help the Canisius hockey team to a win at home Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Griffins scored two power-play goals to defeat AIC, 4-1, at the Buffalo State Sports Arena. Canisius improved to 3-6-4 on the season, and to 2-2-2 in Atlantic Hockey play.

“Our power play was the difference today as we were able to net two big goals that gave us the two-goal cushion late,” said Canisius head coach Dave Smith in a press release. “It was a tight, hard-checking game tonight.”

Kyle Gibbons and Doug Beck scored with the man advantage for the Griffins. Torrey Lindsay and Matthew Grazen had the other goals. while goalie Tony Capobianco made 30 saves. Lindsay assisted on Grazen’s goal.
