FC Buffalo, a semipro team that plays in the National Premier Soccer League, on Friday named Brendan Murphy as its new head coach.

Murphy this season was head assistant for the University at Buffalo men’s soccer team and is director of coaching for the Amherst Soccer Association.

As a player, Murphy was the goalkeeper for a 1999 St. Lawrence University team that won an NCAA championship. He previously starred for Williamsville North High School.
