The Canisius hockey team is looking for some puck luck.
The Golden Griffins outshot AIC, 44-22, but settled for a 1-1 tie in an Atlantic Hockey contest at the Buffalo State Ice Arena Saturday afternoon.
AIC took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal late in the first period. The Griffs tied the game with a power-play tally by Kyle Gibbons at 5:13 in the second.
Tony Capobianco made 21 saves as the Griffs moved to 2-6-4 overall and 1-2-2 in the league.
“We just have to stay the course,” Canisius coach Dave Smith said. “We are playing well and making really good things happen, but the puck just isn’t bouncing right for us. As long as we play with the same urgency and keep generating chances, we will find the back of the net and get two deserved points.”
The teams meet again at 4:05 p.m. at the Ice Arena.
Medaille improved to 3-0 with a 76-60 win over Cazenovia. Tyler Stevens (Depew) had 17 points while Alex Baron added 16.
