Who?: John Bobo, guitar/vocals; Michael Ozimek, drums; Thor Johnson, bass; Bryce March, guitar.
What?: Buffalo psychedelic metal/stoner rock quartet. Western New York's own version of bands like the Sword, Kyuss and Fu Manchu.
Why?: When Chylde first emerged in 2008, it represented a new movement in the local underground music scene, one where heavy rock met progressive motifs and was presented with a psychedelic bent. Great songs, great look, incredibly powerful live presentation.
What's next?: The band, on hiatus while members pursued other projects, will reunite at 6 p.m. Saturday in Mohawk Place (47 East Mohawk St.) with guests Handsome Jack, Aircraft, Ancients of Earth, and No Promises, No Regrets. This reunion show will raise money for Bobo's father, John Bobowicz Sr., who was recently diagnosed with a malignant and aggressive brain tumor. Advance tickets are $15 through Mohawk Place; $20 at the door.
