The Flanders Recorder Quartet implies a mere four recorders. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Founded in Belgium in 1987, the ensemble travels with an astounding 50 recorders – from a tiny piccolo recorder to the granddaddy of them all, a sub-bass recorder measuring 7 feet, 6 inches.
A rare chance to hear the quartet, and marvel at its impressive instrumental arsenal, happens at 8 p.m. Tuesday when the group gives a concert at the Mary Seaton Room in Kleinhans Music Hall. It is the quartet’s first appearance in Buffalo, by all accounts, and it comes courtesy of the Buffalo Chamber Music Society. The evening bears the appetizing title “A Musical Banquet With Johann Sebastian Bach.”
Admission is $20. For information, call 462-4939.
