A Wheatfield man faces fraud and grand larceny charges in connection with his alleged creation of the Western New York Emergency Lighting Co. in North Tonawanda, with the intent to defraud investors, Niagara County sheriff’s officials said today.

Robert L. Blume, 33, was charged Monday with three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and one count of grand larceny after meeting with North Tonawanda Police investigators, sheriff’s officials said. He was ordered held in the County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, pending a return to North Tonawanda City Court on Dec. 6.

Authorities said one of Blume’s victims “lost a substantial amount of money after being shown fraudulent business records including transactions with the sheriff’s office, town of Wheatfield and local volunteer fire companies.”
