Bills cornerback Leodis A. McKelvin was ticketed for allegedly failing to comply early Tuesday with the requests of a Delta flight crew on his return flight to Buffalo from LaGuardia International Airport in New York City, according to authorities from the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority.

McKelvin, 27, was asked to turn off his cellular telephone and instructed to put his baggage in an overhead compartment by the crew aboard the morning flight from the Big Apple to Buffalo, but refused to comply, said C. Douglas Hartmayer, director of public affairs for the NFTA.

“Apparently, they repeatedly asked him to do so,” Hartmayer said. “He did not comply with the requests of the flight crew.”

Hartmayer said the flight crew contacted the NFTA, which operates the airport, and asked police to meet McKelvin at the gate upon arriving in Buffalo to issue him a Notice of Violation for interfering with a flight crew, which they did. The violation carries with it a $75 fine.

Hartmayer said McKelvin, who could not be reached by The Buffalo News for comment, can opt to either pay the fine or appear for a hearing at NFTA headquarters on Main Street.

Today was a better day for the Waycross, Ga. native, who was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
