The American Red Cross was assisting one adult after fire tore through a two-family house on Ivy Street Wednesday evening, Buffalo Fire officials reported.
Firefighters responded to the 7:03 p.m. alarm of fire at 125 Ivy St., where the fire started in a rear first-floor bedroom. The upper apartment was vacant but the lower apartment was occupied by a single person, fire officials said.
The fire resulted in $60,000 damage. A dog and a cat perished in the blaze. The cause remained under investigation late Wednesday.
