Sophomore Brooke Angelos hit a three-pointer with 10.3 seconds left, but that’s as close as the Canisius women’s basketball team would get in a 52-51 loss to Oakland University on Tuesday at the Koessler Center.

Oakland had gone up 52-48 on two free throws by Victoria Lipscomb. Canisius got a good look at a potential game-winner, but the shot rimmed out.

Senior Ashley Wilkes had her second double-double of the season, leading Canisius with 11 points and 11 rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench.

The St. Bonaventure women’s basketball dropped its first game, 52-49, to Fairfield. Alaina Walker finished with a double-double (18 pts, 10 reb.) while Doris Ortega scored 17 and grabbed eight boards. Katie Healy added seven points off the bench. The Bonnies (3-1) had won 14 consecutive true road games prior to the loss.

The Niagara women’s basketball team, winners in two of its last three meetings with Bucknell, looks to build on that success tonight at 7 when its plays at the Bisons.

Niagara (1-2) will try and get back to their winning ways after dropping their last two while Bucknell is coming off a 59-50 win over Canisius.
