Michael B. Jones, of Amherst, an attorney, died Wednesday in Roswell Park Cancer Institute after a 15-month battle with esophageal cancer. He was 51.
Born in Buffalo, the seventh of eight children, he was a graduate of Kenmore East High School and worked two jobs while putting himself through the University at Buffalo Law School. He joined the Buffalo law office of Michael J. Stachowski in 1985.
Mr. Jones was devoted to his family, who often turned to him for advice and legal assistance, and was active in the Boy Scouts.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, the former Sylvia Wright; a daughter, Alissa Dube; a son, Brandan; his mother, Patricia; four brothers, Richard, Thomas, Kenneth and Ronald; and two sisters, Linda James and Suzanne.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Saturday in St. Amelia Catholic Church, Town of Tonawanda.
