BATAVIA – A Batavia man has been arrested and charged with selling a quantity of pills containing a controlled substance to an agent of the Genesee County Local Drug Task Force, the Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.

Investigators said Randy K. Wilmet, 35, of Franklin Street, is charged with fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony.

The Sheriff’s Office said a Batavia police officer arrested Wilmet Sunday afternoon, near the intersection of Bank and North streets, while the officer was investigating an unrelated matter. The suspect was taken to the Genesee County Jail, where he was held without bail.

The charge was contained in a sealed indictment warrant handed up by a grand jury.
