Two people were arrested in separated incidents Sunday night on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At about 8:40 p.m., William H. Max, 46, of Blasdell was stopped on Route 39 near Route 219 in Springville for speeding. A breath test indicated his blood alcohol content level was .19 percent. Authorities learned he had a previous DWI conviction from 2004, which led to an additional charge of felony DWI. He was issued tickets for traffic violations as well. He was processed and released on appearance tickets.

Then shortly before 10 p.m., James P. Schraufstetter, 19, of Lancaster was pulled over for erratic driving on Jerge Drive in Elma.

A breath test showed his alcohol level was .20 percent, two and a half times the legal limit. He was also charged with marijuana possession and traffic infractions. He was processed and released on appearance tickets.
