LOCKPORT – A man whose IQ has been estimated at between 68 and 75 pleaded guilty Thursday in Niagara County Court to sexual encounters with a 15-year-old girl.

Christopher B. LaForme Jr., 27, of Berner Parkway, Royalton, could be sent to prison for as long as 15 years, with up to 10 years of post-release supervision, when he returns to the courtroom of Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas on Jan. 10.

However, Farkas said assignment to a group home might be part of the sentence and asked defense attorney David C. Douglas to “try to find a group home that will take him.”

LaForme, who reached seventh grade in special education, had intercourse with the girl between an undetermined date in March and April 24, and also forced her to perform oral sex during that period. He had been sending the girl suggestive emails since January, and after a restraining order was imposed April 24, continued to do so.

Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth R. Donatello said at a previous court appearance that she had records of more than 10,000 text and Facebook messages between LaForme and the girl since April 24.

LaForme pleaded guilty to third-degree rape, third-degree criminal sexual act, disseminating indecent material to a minor and second-degree criminal contempt. Douglas delayed the plea for two days so he could obtain documentation of LaForme’s low IQ.

Douglas also arranged for LaForme to meet Farkas in her chambers when she wasn’t wearing her black judicial robe so LaForme wouldn’t be intimidated during the entry of his plea.
