LOCKPORT – An 18-year-old Cambria man was given one year on interim probation Friday as State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. sought clues to help him decide whether to send the teenager to jail for child molestation.

The defendant, eligible for youthful offender status, pleaded guilty Sept. 21 to second-degree sexual abuse for sexual contact with a 9-year-old girl Dec. 28. He faces up to a year in jail.

“I’m worried about you,” Kloch told the defendant as he cited the similarities between his crime and those committed by a man whom the state Attorney General’s Office is currently trying to have committed to a mental institution for the rest of his life under the state’s civil confinement law.
