RIDGEWAY – The intersection of Ridge Road and Knowlesville Road remained closed early Thursday evening as cleanup crews worked to clean up tons of granulated soybeans dumped accidentally from a 10-wheel truck earlier in the day.

At about 10:30 a.m., the driver of the truck owned by Root Brothers Farms of Barre raised the rig’s dump box while heading west on Ridge, authorities said, The spill also knocked down several utility lines, causing four utility poles to snap in two. A spokesman for the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office said utility and Village of Medina crews and Ridgeway firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
