More than 20 cars were vandalized and a Mercedes Benz was stolen overnight Monday in the Town of LeRoy, Genesee County sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.

The Sheriff’s Office is working with Livingston County sheriff’s investigators because the stolen car was found in Caledonia, where a KIA minivan was stolen and several cars also were vandalized overnight.

In LeRoy, cars were vandalized on Linwood Road and along Route 5 between 11 p.m. Monday and about 2 a.m. Tuesday. All apparently were left unlocked by their owners. Stolen from those vehicles were global positioning systems, iPods, clothing items and cash.

The Mercedes recovered in Caladonia had been stolen from a Route 5 residence in LeRoy, deputies said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office at (585) 343-5000.
