The Knox Summer Estate at Knox Farm State Park outside East Aurora has been chosen to become the 2013 Decorators’ Show House, The Buffalo News and the Junior League of Buffalo announced Tuesday.
The 14,400-square-foot two-story summer home at 437 Buffalo Road, built in 1916-17, was designed by Cleveland architects Frank Bell Meade and James Montgomery Hamilton for Frank H. and Dorothy Knox Goodyear, who eventually sold it to Seymour H. Knox Jr.
The Knox family lived there until 2000.
The main house has 26 rooms, extensive gardens and overlooks a lovely vista on the 633-acre property, which became a state park in 2001.
The house will be open for viewing from April 27 to May 29. A sneak peek at the undecorated home will be given Feb. 9 and 10. More information on the Show House will be available at www.jlbuffalo.org.
