SEASON OF SHARING – Monday is the deadline for reservations for the Spirit of Sharing Dinner, an evening of holiday cheer Dec. 3 for residents of local skilled-nursing facilities, sponsored by the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce and the Intercouncil of Organizations.

Chairwoman Diane Koczon reports that each $22 sponsorship allows organizers to invite one resident to a program that includes dinner, entertainment, favors and a visit from Santa, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Cheektowaga Senior Center, 3349 Broadway. FIGHT CLUB – Gamers can help the Food Bank of Western New York provide Thanksgiving dinners by taking part in Foodmachine, a charity event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in Niagara Hobby and Craft Mart, 3366 Union Road, Cheektowaga.

SWEET SOUNDS – Simple Gifts, an award-winning two-woman group from Pennsylvania, plays a dazzling variety of ethnic folk styles, ranging from Balkan dance music to Irish jigs and Scandinavian twin fiddle tunes. They perform at the 9 and 11 a.m. services Sunday in Calvary Episcopal Church, 20 Milton St., Williamsville, and follow it with a public concert at 4 p.m. The concert is free, but a donation of $10 per person or $25 per family is suggested.

CLASSIC SOIREE – The Friends of the BPO, a volunteer group that supports the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, is sponsoring a Music, Wine and Food Festival from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans Music Hall.

Tickets are $30 advance, $35 at the door, for an evening that includes samples from local wineries, the Flying Bison Brewery and food from 15 restaurants and specialty shops, along with a souvenir engraved wine glass. WARM AND FURRY – Eleven cat and dog rescue organizations will bring animals to the Pro Plan Rally to Rescue Pet Expo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Big Tree Fire Hall, 4307 South Park Ave., Blasdell.
