Brad Angelo of Lockport came from behind with a double in the 10th frame and edged Mika Koivuniemi, 233-232, in the final match of the World Series of Bowling Viper Championship at South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

Angelo saw the Finn surge in front with five strikes in a row before getting six pins, then three on his final two balls in the 10th frame. Angelo finished a string of four strikes by getting two strikes in the 10th frame.

It was Angelo’s second career title on the PBA Tour. After winning Rookie of the Year honors in 2003 and leading the Tour in points in 2004, he didn’t break through until 2009 when he won the Pepsi Viper in Omaha, Neb..

Angelo led the qualifying for the Viper Championship and was on the top of the stepladder for the finals. Koivuniemi, a native of Finland who also holds U.S. citizenship, defeated Mike Fagan, 214-150 in the first match of the Viper finals. Then he triumph over Sean Rash, 258-180, in the semifinal.

Earlier, Bill O’Neill defeated top qualifier Mike Wolfe of New Albany, Ind., 243-192, in the Cheetah Championship final.
