THOROLD, Ont. – A 51-year-old man was killed when his car collided with a train at Allanport Road near Barron Road, Niagara Regional Police said.

The crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. Friday, when the Port Robinson man was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu north on Allanport toward the railroad crossing, located on the south side of Barron, police said. He continued through the railroad crossing, colliding with a westbound CN freight train.

The man – whose name has not been released – was pronounced dead at the scene.
