How they got here: Sweet Home beat previously undefeated West Seneca East, 28-7, in Section VI final. Eastridge routed Canandaigua, 47-7, in Section V final.

Pre-snap read: Sweet Home just won its sixth straight sectional title, extending its win streak against Western New York opponents to 60. From 2007 to today, its only losses have come to Aquinas. Eastridge lost in the first round of sectionals the last three years. Won a deep Class A in Section V this year, which included Victor, Canandaigua, Brockport and McQuaid. Eastridge runs much more than it passes. Both teams will occassionally go to the double-wing; Sweet Home’s package is nicknamed the “Big Bird.” As was the case in the Section VI finals, Class A is the only regional that has two undefeated teams meeting.

What’s next: The winner advances to the state semifinals next Friday at 8 p.m. at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester. The opponent will be the winner of the Central Regional between state A poll No. 12 Nottingham (8-2) of Section III (Syracuse area) and No. 8 Union-Endicott (8-1) of Section IV (Binghamton area); that game is tonight at 8 at East Syracuse-Minoa.
