Who?: Garrett Shea, vocals, guitar; Nick Bonaventura, guitar; Will Folckemer, bass; Cam Kukla, drums.
What?: Alt/power-pop/punk quartet just released its debut, “Take Me There,” overseen by producer Anthony Casuccio of local indie label Buzz Records.
Why?: Blending the influence of Green Day and Foo Fighters, Breckenwood offers tightly constructed pop hooks and vibrant, accessible arrangements. “Take Me There” is a fat-free endeavor – Casuccio has suggested that, after producing hundreds of albums in his career, the Breckenwood collection “is one of the very few where every song could be a radio hit.” Apparently, college radio agrees – Buffalo State College’s WBNY voted Breckenwood Best Pop Rock Band and gave singer Shea the nod as Best Pop Rock Vocalist last year.
What’s next?: Breckenwood will perform in the Feed the City benefit Dec. 8 in the Town Ballroom.
