Friday Night Invite resumes
The Friday Night Invitational amateur team boxing tournament resumes after a drama pause at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Lux Night Club, 75 W. Chippewa St.
The tournament resumes after a brief, one-day suspension of USA Boxing by AIBA, the international governing body of amateur boxing, two days before the tournament’s resumption three weeks ago forced New York State Golden Gloves President and tournament organizer Don Patterson to postpone it.
“We have most of the fights we had scheduled. For the most part we have the same show we were going to have with the exception of a couple changes [due to participants’ work schedules],” Patterson said.
This is the second round of a three-round tournament which will conclude Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Lux Night Club. Northwest Buffalo Community Center went 4-2 during the first round of the 13-team tournament, while St. Martin’s of Rochester went 2-0, Casal’s Boxing of Niagara Falls 2-3 and Clancy’s Boxing of Toronto, 2-0.
Advance tickets start at $20 ($30 for ringside floor) with the cost for tickets the day of the event increasing to $25 and $35. VIP and Platinum VIP Seating are available. Tickets can be purchased at The Tralf Box Office, Doris Records, Carubba Collision, ticketmaster.com or at Lux.
