TOWN OF NIAGARA – Fire crews responded to a fire just before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Expressway Village mobile home park, just off of Porter Road.

The vacant mobile home, at 116 Expressway Village, was owned by Barbara Golden of Niagara Falls and had been for sale for several months. The double-wide manufactured home, valued at about $35,000, was destroyed in the fire. Town police arrived on the scene first and found extensive fire in the rear of the home, Police Chief H. James Suitor said. He said two adjacent homes sustained minor damages, including melted siding, due to the intense heat.

Volunteer firefighters from Niagara Active Hose were aided by other area fire companies. No injuries were reported.

Suitor said all utilities to the home were disconnected. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
