NIAGARA FALLS – A Pine Avenue gas station and LaSalle taxi driver were held up at gunpoint Tuesday night in what police believe were unrelated incidents.

A clerk in a Sunoco station on Pine Avenue told officers that two men wearing ski masks and gloves, both brandishing handguns, entered the store at 7:21 p.m. and demanded money from the cash register. One suspect, carrying what appeared to be a semiautomatic handgun with a silver finish, immediately ran behind the counter, while the second suspect ran to the cashier’s right and held what appeared to be a silver revolver to the victim’s head. The cashier told police he emptied the cash drawer of about $200 and the suspects fled toward Ninth Street.

Both suspects are described as black males, one wearing black pants and a black hoodie. The other suspect was wearing black pants and a black jacket with white arms and white around the neck.

Another armed robbery was reported at 9:30 p.m. A female LaSalle Taxi Cab driver said she picked up three males in the 500 block of Seventh Street and was asked to drive them to Byrd Avenue. When they arrived, one of the men displayed put a gun to the back of her head, saying, “Gimme your money.”

The driver said told police she handed over $17 and the trio fled.

The suspect with the gun was described as a black male in his 20s wearing a black, fitted hat and a black coat. The other two were described as a younger black male wearing a black hoodie and a younger white male with short brown hair and a dark Champion sweater with a red C on the left corner of his chest.

Police spoke to residents of Byrd Avenue looking for suspects. No arrests have been reported.

Capt. William M. Thomson, chief of detectives said Wednesday that both cases remained under investigation and said the two cases were unrelated.
