LOCKPORT – A City of Tonawanda man, who was on probation for felony driving while intoxicated when he borrowed his girlfriend’s car to drive to a happy hour party, was sentenced Wednesday to 20 weekends in Niagara County Jail, five years on probation, and fines and fees totaling $5,430.

Ryan D. Harris, 29, of Scott Street, a sanitation worker for the City of Tonawanda, had pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and misdemeanor DWI. Police followed him about 2 a.m. Jan. 28 in North Tonawanda after he made a left turn on a red light following eight hours at the house party, State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. said from the bench.

Defense attorney John Liberti said Harris was arrested as he tried to park his girlfriend’s car.
