LOCKPORT – The only contested races for local offices in Niagara County on Tuesday were town justice contests in Porter and Royalton, both won by Republicans.
In Porter, Wayne D. Pollow, a fire police lieutenant for the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Company, defeated Patrick F. Stack, a Niagara Falls detective, 1,702 to 1,408, in complete but unofficial returns provided by the Niagara County Board of Elections.
In Royalton, Laura A. Wagner, an attorney for the Niagara County Social Services Department, won in her first bid for elected office. She defeated Town Councilman James G. Budde, a member of the Independence Party who ran on the Democratic and Conservative lines, 1,511 to 1,143. Former Justice Deborah A. Carpenter, a Republican running on the Independence line, garnered 256 votes.
