Authorities today identified the body of a man recovered Sunday from the Beaver Island State Park marina and determined he died as a result of suicide, the State Parks Police said.
Officials would only identify him as an adult male from the Town of Tonawanda.
The man’s family has been notified.
The body was first spotted Sunday afternoon by fishermen who were in a boat in the west branch of the Niagara River. They notified the U.S. Coast Guard.
The body drifted to the marina where State Parks Police were aided by Grand Island firefighters in retrieving it.
Investigators said the man had left his car at the foot of West Ferry Street in Buffalo with a note inside.
