Seven people – including five children – were left homeless when fire ravaged their Black Rock home early this morning.

The blaze at 111 Gorton St. apparently started on the front porch of the 2-1/2 story house at about 4:20 a.m., and extended to the first-floor apartment, firefighters said.

The two adults and five children living in the house escaped without injury, firefighters said. The seven were assisted by the Red Cross.

Damaged was estimated at $55,000 to the building and $20,000 to the contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation, fire officials said.
