Emergency repairs totaling almost $40,000 were authorized by the Tonawanda Town Board for damage caused when an elderly driver hit a wall at the Aquatic and Fitness Center earlier this month.

Ledge Creek Development, of Clarence Center, was awarded a $39,756 contract by the Town Board.

On the morning of Oct. 11, an exterior wall of a fitness room was hit by an older model sport utility vehicle driven by Donald R. Miller, 74, of the Town of Tonawanda. No one was hurt. Miller was issued a ticket for an unsafe start.
