A would-be burglar got a surprise when he tried to break into a Kaisertown residence Saturday morning.

A man wearing a black hoodie, black pants and brown work boots tried to use a screwdriver to break in through a rear door of a Glenn Street residence about 7:22 a.m., but was scared off by the person inside, who chased the intruder through a yard and struck him on the left wrist with a baseball bat, police said.
