Buffalo State College is celebrating the opening of a new recital hall. The ribbon cutting is Sunday evening, and the featured performer is guitarist JoAnn Falletta. Falletta – better known, of course, as the music director for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra – is playing classical guitar with her husband, clarinetist Robert Alemany.
Also joining in the festivities is the Clara String Quartet, made up of four women in the BPO: Amy Glidden, violin; Jacqueline Galluzzo, violin; Kate Holzemer, viola; and Amelie Fradette, cello.
The evening will include music by Luigi Boccherini and the fiery violin virtuoso Nicolo Paganini.
The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The new state-of-the-art recital hall is on the third floor of Rockwell Hall (1300 Elmwood Ave.), located across the street from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
Admission is $35. For info, call 878-3005.
