Concetta D. McConeghy of Niagara Falls, a retired elementary school teacher, died Tuesday in Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Lewiston. She was 78.
Born Concetta Capolupo in Niagara Falls, she was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.
Known to friends and family as Connie, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College in Rochester and her master’s degree from Buffalo State College.
Mrs. McConeghy was employed for 34 years as an elementary teacher in the Niagara Falls School District. She retired in 1997. She also was part of the Gifted and Talented Math Program at the University at Buffalo.
She was a member of the College Club of Niagara Falls and a former member of the Delta Kappa Gamma teachers sorority.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Alexander R.; a daughter, Elizabeth Buscaglia; a son, Vincent; and two sisters, Carolyna Capolupo and Claudia Capolupo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Raphael Catholic Church, 3840 Macklem Ave., Niagara Falls.
