Tara Hall, 43, has been identified as the woman seriously wounded in a shooting Wednesday night at her second-floor apartment in the Zenner-East Ferry neighborhood.
The unidentified gunman was not wearing a mask, contrary to initial reports that he was hiding his face beneath one, according to police.
Investigators continue to search for the shooter who pushed his way into Hall’s residence on the first block of Zenner Street at about 8:55 p.m.
One of the bullets struck Hall in the back, according to Ferry-Fillmore District Officer Joseph Bonner. Hall was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center and is listed in “serious” condition in the trauma intensive care unit.
The bullet wound, according to police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge, does not appear to be life-threatening.
Police have limited details on what the gunman looked like. He was described as black, of medium height and build and dressed in a black coat with a hood on it.
After the shooting, he fled through a nearby backyard on foot.
