LOCKPORT – Level 2 sex offender Jimmie L. Powell III, of Niagara Falls, was sentenced Thursday to 2½ years in state prison for having sexual contact with a 15-year-old last year.
Powell, 43, of North Avenue, also will face 15 years of parole-like post-release supervision after his prison term for his guilty plea to third-degree criminal sexual act. He initially was charged with having sex with the girl repeatedly from Dec. 20 to 22.
Powell previously served four years in prison after being convicted in 2001 of abusing two girls, ages 6 and 7.
In a lengthy statement to Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas, Powell asserted, “I’m not a threat to society. I’m an asset to society. … I’m harmless.”
