Volunteers are needed in West Seneca Saturday to assist in planting trees throughout the town.
The effort is part of a joint project between the West Seneca environmental commission and highway department, along with Re-Tree of WNY.
Highway crews will be pre-digging holes and will deliver the trees to marked locations.
Volunteers will meet at the town’s highway garage at 8 a.m. to team up and get instructions and locations for planting. The event, which will take place rain or shine, is expected to be completed by noon.
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Ann Rappold of the West Seneca Highway Department at 674-4850 or Evelyn Hicks, environmental commission chairwoman, at 553-5077.
Volunteers are asked to dress for the weather, including wearing “sturdy shoes.” They should bring their own work gloves and a shovel, rake and some pruners, if possible, officials said.
