Leslie F. Arnold, a retired insurance company office manager who had a passion for boating, died Wednesday in his Town of Tonawanda home. He was 84.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Kenmore High School.

Mr. Arnold served stateside in the Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948 and again from 1950 to 1952. He was a graduate of the University of Buffalo.

He worked as an officer manager for the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. for 35 years, until his retirement in 1985.

Mr. Arnold taught safe boating courses for the Coast Guard Auxiliary and Swift Water Power and Sail.

In 1999, he was voted Western New York Boater of the Year by the Blue Gavel of Swift Water Power and Sail. He also was a past division captain of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Division III and a former treasurer for both the Inner Harbor Yacht Club and Swift Water Power and Sail.

Mr. Arnold also was a member of North Tonawanda Lodge 860, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and a 40-year member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Susanne M. Bingham; a son, Greg; and two daughters, Linda Krompart and Lori Dolney.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, 65 Main St., North Tonawanda.
