LOCKPORT – Christopher A. Porter, one of four men convicted in connection with the theft of $102,000 in cash from an elderly Niagara Falls couple, was sentenced Wednesday to one to three years in prison for violating the terms of his probation.

Porter, 21, of Welch Avenue, Niagara Falls, had been placed on probation in 2010 after pleading guilty to third-degree burglary. Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas said Porter was fired from a job recently for stealing; Porter said it was really for letting others steal and leave the store without stopping them.

The money was stolen from a file cabinet in the basement of the 28th Street home of a relative of the owner of a check-cashing business. The other three defendants also went to prison.
