Town of Tonawanda officers arrested a young couple on heroin charges during a raid late Wednesday morning on a Grand Island Boulevard motel room, and reported that one of the suspects showered three young children with the drug as he was trying to dispose of it in haste.
Indalaccio Rodriguez-Escalera, 22, and his girlfriend, Melissa Rosario, 22, were allegedly using a room in the Economy Inn to deal heroin.
During the raid, Rodriguez-Escalera tried to dispose of some drug by throwing it around the room, and some of it got on Rosario’s three young children, all under 3, police said.
The three were taken to Women & Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
The couple were each charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, reckless endangerment and child endangerment. Rodriguez-Escalera was ordered held in the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $100,000 bail and Rosario was released to her parents, police said.
