A Gowanda man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated early today after a breath test showed his blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit, State Police said. At about 1:30 a.m., troopers saw a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign at Scotland and Bloomingdale roads in the Town of Newstead.

The vehicle continued into the Town of Alabama where it ran off the road and into a ditch at Meadville and Skye roads, authorities said.

The driver, Barry J. Martin, 26, was arrested. His BAC level was .20 percent. Two passengers in his car also were arrested. Jeremiah J. Jacobs, 30, of Niagara Falls, was arrested for giving a false name to troopers. Codi Sundown, 22, of Alabama, was arrested after he was found to have an arrest warrant for third-degree assault from Genesee County out on him.
