The Buffalo Bandits have signed defenseman Derek Suddons to a one-year contract.
Suddons is an 11-year veteran who was with the Edmonton Rush last season. He also has played for Columbus and Toronto in his career. He had six goals and six assists in 2012, and played in the NLL All-Star Game in Buffalo.
“Derek is a great defender, but he’s very underrated when it comes to the transition part of his game,” Bandits’ general manager Steve Dietrich said. “Most importantly, he’s a solid, team-first guy that brings a lot of character to this team and someone that our younger players can look up to as they build through the year.
The Bandits also have signed two of their second-round choices from the 2012 draft, Hayden Smith and Carter Bender.
Meanwhile, the Rochester Knighthawks have signed ex-Bandit Ian Llord to a one-year contract. ILindoor.com also reports that former National Lacrosse League most valuable player Casey Powell has agreed to terms with the Knighthawks.
