The Allegany County man facing fraud charges in connection with his ownership suit against Facebook will remain in custody for now.

A federal judge in New York City ordered Paul Ceglia held without bail until at least Wednesday when he will have another chance to challenge his detention.

Ceglia was arrested at his home in Wellsville Friday and charged in Manhattan federal court with orchestrating a billion-dollar scheme to defraud Facebook.

The criminal charges relate to Ceglia’s civil suit claiming he and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg signed a 2003 contract that entitles Ceglia to at least a 50 percent stake in the company.

Zuckerberg acknowledges signing a contract with Ceglia while he was a student at Harvard University but says it had nothing to do with Facebook.
